August 22nd Meeting

Shown here are Chris Bertolero, past president and Leslie Roberts who was awarded the Kiwanis Turkey Pin. Leslie Roberts of the Ramona Sheriffs spoke to the club about Project Lifesaver. This is a program our club sponsors. The sheriffs provide trackable bracelets for individuals who are prone to wander. This is at no cost to the clients because the Ramona Kiwanis Club pays for it. August 8th Meeting

Dylan Peterson is awarded the Kiwanis Turkey Pin by Pam Hotaling. Dylan made a presentation to the Ramona Kiwanis Club regarding his upcoming BSA Eagle Scout Project, he will be building an info kiosk at Wellfield Park. Kiwanis Club of Ramona is donating $550- to help fund his project.

July 30th Grand Opening of the Grocery Outlet in Ramona

Kiwanis Club of Ramona sends a huge Thank You to Grocery Outlet owners Dana and Jordan Kelley for their generous donation of $1000.00! This will go a long way towards supporting the children of Ramona💕

August 1st Meeting

Kiwanis Club Of Ramona is proud to welcome our newest member Casey Lynch!!

July 24th Meeting

Leroy Chubb of America Graffiti Cruise was the speaker at Saturday’s Kiwanis Meeting. Kiwanis of Ramona meets every Saturday at Denny’s on Main St. 7 am.

July 17th meeting

At Saturday’s meeting, we heard from Curtis Martineau, a teacher from Ramona High School. Curtis runs the FFA Ramona High’s FFA program – largest in county with 4 teachers & 588 kids.

They have won several state competitions with 100 plus kids competing. Our club supports this program every year with a donation. Shown in the picture here is Jon Stephens, incoming president, Curtis Martineau, and Tiffany Lynch presenting the $500 donation for this year.

July 4th and Interclub

June 27th Meeting

For 16 years St. Mary’s Episcopal Church has collected donations to help provide shoes,socks and underwear for the Ramona back to school season. Kiwanis Club of Ramona is proud to sponsor such a worthy project with a check for $1000.00. Dawn Kezer and Connie Bley picked up the big check from Kiwanis President Paul Tarr on Saturday 6/27.

May 16th Meeting

Elliotte Boyce, a Mountain Valley Academy 8th-grader. Her teacher and school principal provided reasons Elliotte received unanimous support of all MVA teachers for the honor. Tiffany presented Elliotte with her Outstanding Student plaque and Amazon gift card. 

Ramona resident Kim Newcomer, leader of Ramona Stars 4-H Club’s Beekeeping Group, provided information and photos about the group, which started in 2009 for 9- to 19-year olds.

April 25th Meeting

April 18th Meeting

At our meeting Pat Donovan, President of the Guy B. Woodward Museum and Ramona Kiwanis Club member is shown here holding a practice bomb from the museum. As our KOD he told us the story of the coming of Ramona. Ramona has the distinction of being the only town in Southern California to be bombed during World War II. In September of 1944, at 12:30, one Sunday afternoon, a bomb was dropped from a flying plane and struct the center of seventh Street by what is now La Cosina restaurant. The plane was on target practice with other planes sweeping toward the airfield, which is four miles east of town, when the bomb was accidentally released. The bomb exploded and sent fragments into the air and also penetrated the pavement to the depth of 12 inches leaving a hole about 6 inches in circumference. No one was injured.

Kiwanian President Paul Tarr and KOD Pam Hotaling present Eagle Scout Candidate Derrick Whalen with a Ramona Kiwanis Turkey Pin. Derrick spoke about his upcoming Eagle Project to which Ramona Kiwanis Club donated $250.

Jerda Herrera, of the In His Steps center, accepts a Kiwanis Club of Ramona pin from Ramona Kiwanis President Paul Tarr and KOD Maureen Robertson on March 7. Herrera, director of the 2 In His Steps women’s homes and the day’s guest speaker at Kiwanis, shared information about the Christian recovery homes in Ramona which also include 3 men’s homes.
